Sweet Hugs in Boston

So HUGWORKS went on last evening at WFT, and while it may have been "without a hitch", the prep work for sound, lights, and the animation was an all day affair. But Paul, Jim, and Noel were especially gracious; they're pros to be sure! And tech shout outs to Matthew and Brian. Thanx also to Sue, Frankie, Luci, Molly, Ruth and Santio. I think the WFT rocked - and we brought in a sweet house of almost 200 folk.

The evening was videotaped (thanx Kathy Wittman) but a few rehearsal shots were grabbed before the evening took off. The performance was relaxed, the music folksy and charming. The children danced and clapped, what better way to spend an evening?

Thank you to Dr. Pasch, who's commitment to children and the arts, her love of WFT and her lead in the Department of Scholarship and Research at Wheelock College, brought together the artists and the institution to create a wonderful night.

HUGWORKS CONCERT July 27 at 7:00

HUGWORKS, featuring the clever melodies of Jim Newton and Paul Hill, offers a variety of child-friendly songs promoting self-esteem and the healthy expression of feelings. For 27 years HUGWORKS has offered therapeutic entertainment for children in hospitals or medical camps, HUGWORKS is now partnering with Wheelock College’s Center for Scholarship and Research, to bring songs, animations, and professional development to early childcare centers, classrooms, and communities. The songs enhance childhood development and academic curricula, but first of all, HUGWORKS is fun music!

HUGWORKS will present a free concert at Wheelock Family Theatre on July 27th, 2009 at 7:00pm. Joined by special guest, Noel “Paul” Stookey of the legendary group, Peter, Paul and Mary, HUGWORKS promises a great evening of interactive musical experiences for children, parents and the young at heart. HUGWORKS music is appropriate for nurturing the child spirit in everyone!

The HUGWORKS concert is the kickoff to a professional development institute of Wheelock College for students, graduates, and those seeking PDP’s or CEUs.

Attendees will have an opportunity to make a donation to Hugworks, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
